Lenny Carlson - Pool Deck Project
Summer 2005

The angle pieces are all cut and in place.   A close-up of one of the long angles.

The outside edge is now trimmed off. We left the inside untrimmed as we still don't know yet what we want to do with it.   A close-up of the tip of an angle piece. We glued and screwed these pieces down to eliminate the tips popping up. So far they have held down tight.

A picture showing the inside edge of the pool with the deck boards overhanging. Due to the design of the soft sided pool we needed the overhang to cover the gap between the frame and the edge of the pool. This will require additional supports on the framework below.   Another picture showing the inside edge.

A straight on view showing the inside edge of the pool and a decent shot of how one of the angles turned out.   We had to create an overhang/cantilever effect to the inside of the pool. The "Splash-Pool" tips inward from the base by about a foot and therefore creates the need for the cantilever. In order to help strengthen this overhang my neighbor Todd recommended using plywood gussets as the are bi-directional strength and would be very easy to install. Thanks for the tip Todd.

Another picture showing the gussets. They were easy to put on but crawling underneath through all that framework was not necessarily easy.   Full view of the pool deck so far.
