Frank and Adele - Pool Deck Project
Summer 2004

6/23/04 - Closing in on the 4th...

We're closing in on the 4th of July, where this deck will actually get some use, so I'm trying to finish up. These photos are of some of the refinements, such as adding the gate, closing in the bench, lighting, etc.

A view from the front. I moved that unsightly sliding board. The kids love it, so I can't get rid of it, but I moved it further down the yard.   The gate, with self-closing spring and locking latch, per our township's building code.

I closed in the top and bottom of the bench, stabilizing it considerably, and making it look a little nicer. I also added some deck lights on each side.   I routed and sanded the edge of this step. Some of the board edges were a little uneven, and the routing adds a nice touch. (Credit goes to my brother for the idea- thanks Brian). Also note the patio lights on every-other post.

Just a random view of the pool area from on the deck.   A view from the back. I added two bicycle hooks to the back of the bench to hold the skimmer.

Another view.
